Art & Design
GCSE Art & Design
GCSE Art and design is an entirely coursework based subject, which has 2 components. The course starts by broadly covering various media, becoming more specialised as the student finds their interest. The course is weighted 60% coursework, 40% exam. The exam section is still coursework based, but the final outcome is sat in exam conditions over 10 hours to produce a final piece.
KS3 & Project
Project and KS3 Art & Design is an exciting, practical subject that encourages exploration, experimentation, and the development of creative ideas. Your child will learn about different artists, cultures, materials and techniques while developing their own personal style. This gives your child the foundation and skills they need if they are interested in pursuing Art further.
Arts Award
Arts Award is a qualification equivalent to GCSE and A level if studied at bronze, silver and gold level. Evidence for the qualification is collected via an online portal and different modules have to be completed. As well as physical artwork in the students chosen media, modules such as work experience in the creative industries and project based worked is completed. This can give the student some additional skills and as there is no exam to sit like GCSE and A-level, this can be a better option for those students who would find it hard to sit a formal exam.
