GCSE Art and design is an entirely coursework based subject, which has 2 components. The course starts by broadly covering lots of media and becoming more specialised as the student finds their interest. The course is weighted 60% coursework, 40% exam. The exam section of the course is still coursework based, but the final outcome is sat in exam conditions over 10 hours to produce a final piece. The 10 hour exam will be sat in a local exam centre ran by Tutor and Exams, and the 10 hours will be over 2 days.
